Miami University's women's center invites nominations for the 10th Annual Women's Leadership Celebration and Awards luncheon to be held Friday, Jan. 21, 2011. Nominations must be submitted by Friday, Dec. 17, and the deadline to register for the luncheon is Friday, Jan. 14, 2011.
The Women’s Leadership Celebration and Awards Luncheon, hosted by the women’s center in collaboration with other campus offices, celebrates the leadership contributions of women at Miami and fosters individual and community development around the topic of leadership.
This year’s keynote speaker is Miami alumna Allyson M. Lowe (’96). Lowe is assistant professor and chair of the department of political science at Carlow University in Pennsylvania. Her lecture topic is “Ordinary Women in Extraordinary Roles: Making the Most of Your Power.”
A highlight of this annual event is the Women's Leadership and Male Ally Awards, which are presented to those who have distinguished themselves in their respective communities and organizations as advocates for equality and models of leadership. Through their personal and professional commitments, these individuals have challenged societal norms, expectations, and the limitations of gender roles.
Nomination forms and registration information for this free event are available online.
