An anonymous $150,000 charitable bequest from a Miami University alumna has established an endowment that will yield annual support to Miami's College of Arts and Science, department of intercollegiate athletics, and University Libraries.
Instructions from the donor’s estate indicated that it was important that Miami received the bequest because of "her love and concern for Miami University." The $150,000 will be invested and reinvested in an endowment fund that will, in perpetuity, provide annual support to be divided equally among the three designated areas.
“We greatly appreciate not only the generosity of this bequest, which is providing crucial support to three key areas at Miami University, but also the vision of all donors who provide support to Miami through their estate planning,” said Jayne Whitehead, vice president for university advancement and executive director of the Miami Foundation. “These donors leave a legacy that impacts generations of current and future Miamians.”
The gift supports the Miami University campaign For Love and Honor, a $500 million initiative supporting scholarships, faculty, student-learning opportunities, academic programs, and facilities and grounds. Of the more than $395 million raised so far, $86.5 million, or 22 percent, has been raised through bequests.
