Michael S. Kabbaz
Michael S. Kabbaz, director of admission at the University of Richmond, has accepted the position of associate vice president for enrollment management at Miami University, beginning May 1, 2011. He will report to Provost Bobby Gempesaw, as well as to President David Hodge.

At Richmond, Kabbaz has had responsibility for the strategic planning, overall management and daily administration of the office of admission, a role he has held since 2009. In this role, he was responsible for the strategic leadership and the direct oversight of all marketing initiatives, data management and technology required for the recruitment and enrollment of a talented and diverse student body.

During his tenure, the University of Richmond’s applications grew by 19 percent, helping raise the academic profile while maintaining ethnic and geographic diversity.

Before joining the University of Richmond, Kabbaz worked for the College Board, overseeing usage of AP programs and consulting on a variety of enrollment and educational initiatives. Kabbaz worked in Miami’s office of admission from 2001 – 2003, serving as the associate director for operations and communications.

“We look forward to Michael’s return to Miami in this key role. He brings extensive enrollment management expertise, a comprehensive understanding of the higher education landscape and fresh ideas to our enrollment management process, which will positively impact our enrollment initiatives,” said John Skillings, interim provost.

“As an Ohio native, I look forward to helping move Miami University to its next level of excellence. Miami is one of the best public institutions in the country and well-recognized for the quality of its undergraduate teaching, and I am thrilled to help shape its future success,” said Kabbaz.

Kabbaz received a bachelor of science in business administration and a master of business administration from Xavier University, and has completed coursework for a doctorate in higher education at Loyola University in Chicago.
