Marketing department announces chair


Robert F. Dahlstrom, Bloomfield Professor of Marketing at the University of Kentucky, has been named Joseph P. Seibert Professor and chair of the department of marketing at Miami University's Farmer School of Business. He will begin his new duties on July 1, 2011.

Dahlstrom is the founder and director of University of Kentucky’s Douglas K. Von Allmen Center for Green Marketing, which strives to expand the knowledge of green marketing practices among business owners, and to contribute to scholarly research on green marketing and sustainability. His teaching and research also focuses on issues related to international marketing.

Highlights of Dahlstrom’s extensive international scholarship activities include appointment as a Fulbright Scholar at the Norwegian School of Management during the 1997-98 and 2004-05 academic years and service as a visiting professor at the Oslo-based institution in October of 1998, November of 1999 and May of 2001. He has also worked closely with the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration in Bergen, Norway; Wirtschaft Universitaet in Vienna, Austria; Technological Education Institute of Piraeus in Athens, Greece; and Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

The new chair has published his wide-ranging research in a variety of prestigious journals in the U.S. and abroad.

Dahlstrom earned his doctorate in marketing from the University of Cincinnati and holds an undergraduate degree in marketing from Xavier University.
