SASS Steering Committee outlines recommendations for effectiveness and efficiency


Last fall, Miami's Strategic Priorities Task Force indicated that to achieve our long-term goals, all services that support the university's mission must be performed more effectively and efficiently. Starting in January, Accenture began working with Miami to identify ways that these goals could be accomplished and more resources could be made available for reinvestment in Miami's future. A steering committee comprising faculty, staff and a student was formed to work with Accenture and the university community on the Strategic Analysis of Support Services (SASS) project.

Accenture has completed its analysis and the steering committee has reviewed the findings and has issued its report outlining those recommendations that the committee believes offer the greatest opportunity for achieving increased effectiveness and efficiency for the university. The steering committee report will be available for review at by noon on Wednesday. The Accenture report and the related appendices will also be available at this site later this week.

The steering committee is seeking input from the Miami community about these recommendations and will hold open forums during this week and next week so that everyone in the university community has the opportunity to ask questions and share comments. Comments may also be shared at

Dates and locations for the open forums are as follows:

• 6–8 p.m. Thursday, April 28, in 128 Pearson (targeted to students)

• 3–5 p.m. Monday, May 2, in Hall Auditorium (targeted to faculty and staff)

• noon–2 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, at multipurpose rooms, Shriver Center (targeted to faculty and staff)

•3–5 p.m. Thursday, May 5, at Voice of America Learning Center (targeted to regional campus faculty and staff)
