Zoology doctoral student wins Best Student Poster in Herpetology

Melissa Youngquist, a doctoral student in zoology at Miami University, won the Tracy Storer Award for Best Student Poster in Herpetology from the American Society of Ichthyology and Herpetology at the 2011 Joint Meetings of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists July 6-11 in Minneapolis.

Her poster was titled “The Curious Case of Blanchard's Cricket Frog: Structure in a Fragmented Landscape.”

Youngquist, who is advised by Michelle Boone, associate professor of zoology, studies how landscape–level processes affect amphibian diversity and also conducts research on how the timing of exposure of contaminants affects metamorphosis and the thyroid hormone axis in amphibians.
