John Weigand named a most admired educator

John Weigand
John Weigand, professor and chair of Miami University's architecture and interior design department, was named one of 25 Most Admired Educators of 2012 by DesignIntelligence, a bi-monthly report from the Design Futures Council.

Each year, DesignIntelligence honors excellence in education and education administration by naming exemplary professionals in the disciplines of architecture, industrial design, interior design, and landscape architecture. Educators and administrators were selected with input from thousands of design professionals, academic department heads and students.

Weigand earned architectural degrees at Miami and at the University of Illinois and worked professionally in Chicago from 1980 to 1991. At Miami, Weigand developed the bachelor’s of fine arts in interior design (1995) and directed the program until 2006. He remains active in national interior architecture initiatives. Weigand also is the 1999 winner of Miami’s Crossan Hayes Curry Effective Educator Award.
