Lentini featured on new fundraising CD for public radio

Jim Lentini
An original guitar arrangement recorded and performed by Jim Lentini, dean of Miami University's School of Fine Arts and professor of music, is included on a new CD produced for Cincinnati-area public radio stations WMUB-FM (88.5), WGUC-FM (90.9), WVXU-FM (91.7) and WNKU-FM (89.7).

The disk, "Ring Volume II: A Cincinnati Guitar Christmas for Public Radio," is a follow-up to the first edition of a Christmas guitar CD released by Cincinnati Public radio last year. There are 22 tracks included on the new disk, which features a “who’s who” of prominent Cincinnati-area guitarists performing seasonal classics and some original pieces.

Lentini was asked to contribute by the CD’s producer Brian O’Donnell, an announcer for WGUC and WNKU.
“Knowing Jim’s virtuosity with 6-strings, it was a no-brainer,” O’Donnell said. “My hope was that he’d choose to come on board so I was thrilled when, without hesitation, he agreed and turned in a stellar Christmas medley.”

The CD is available only through a pledge to the stations. “Ring Volume I” helped to raise more than $130,000 for public radio, and O’Donnell is hoping to continue the success with “Ring Volume II.”

Lentini has performed nationally and internationally. He has received the Andrés Segovia Composition Prize.

This year, the School of Fine Arts is sponsoring events and programs as part of the Year of the Arts at Miami University.
