Symphony Orchestra presents "Treasure from Behind the Curtain"

The Miami University Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Ricardo Averbach, will perform with guest pianist Michael Chertock at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at Hall Auditorium. Admission is free. The program, "Treasures from Behind the Curtain," will feature forgotten masterpieces from Russia and Eastern Europe including selections by Dvořák, Piazzolla, Shostakovich, and others.

Chertock will perform “Totentanz” by Franz Liszt, in celebration of the bicentennial of the composer's birth.

Chertock is assistant professor of piano at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music and the conductor of the Blue Ash-Montgomery Symphony in Cincinnati. He has a successful career as an orchestral soloist and has appeared in numerous performances with orchestras across the U.S.
