A new myMiami that was intended to debut Wednesday, Dec. 21, instead will go live sometime in the first half of 2012. Two teams of Miami staff from IT and other departments decided that infrastructure and security were not yet achieved to necessary standards.
In the meantime, Miami is extending its contract with Blackboard for the portal license. For now, users will see no change in myMiami.
Miami’s IT developers, working with IT technicians from Campus EAI, achieved much progress in the last few weeks of this semester, and will continue to work toward implementing phase 1 of the new myMiami portal using myCampus.
The portal project teams acknowledge the efforts of a significant number of Miami staff, both within IT and in many other divisions, in providing the review and testing that enabled the team to make an informed decision. Their work has ensured that the right decision has been made for the university.
After phase 1 is implemented, a transition to the new myMiami will be ongoing. A university team is working on refinements and new features that will be available later in 2012. The team is receiving input from several committees of students, staff and faculty.
When the new myMiami debuts there will be a training and support community site where all faculty, staff and students can learn about the new system, and find instructions on how to do specific tasks.
