World/Concert Percussion Ensembles to perform

Jason Koontz
The Miami University World and Concert Percussion Ensembles, directed by William Albin, will present their annual spring concert at 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, in Hall Auditorium. The program will feature three pieces for marimba ensemble and two popular music selections for large percussion ensemble.

The world music ensemble will be joined by guest artist Jason Koontz (Miami MM '98) associate professor of percussion at Eastern Kentucky University, who will direct several selections inspired by both folk and popular music of Brazil.

A special feature of the program is music from Bali — with Miami’s collection of more than 30 gamelan instruments, the first time since 2007 that Miami’s entire gamelan collection has been used.

The concert is free and open to the public.
