Michael Curme
Michael Curme, associate dean of the Farmer School of Business and associate professor of economics, has been named Miami University's Outstanding Professor for 2012 by Associated Student Government (ASG) and Campus Activities Council (CAC). Curme was one of three finalists named out of the 37 professors nominated by graduating seniors.

Other finalists for the award were: Jade Morton, professor of electrical and computer engineering, and Gulen Cevik, associate professor of architecture and interior design.

Curme joined Miami as an assistant professor in 1988, became an associated professor in 1994 and became associate dean for curriculum in 2007.

He has received several honors and awards in his time at Miami, including being recognized as an Honored Professor by ASG for five consecutive years (1999-2003).

His areas of expertise include labor economics and microeconomics.

“Dr. Curme goes above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that his students are happy, healthy and thoroughly understand his course material,” wrote senior Shannon Reed, who nominated Curme. “Dr. Curme is an incredible teacher, mentor and friend. He was my favorite professor at Miami and I know that I will remember the impact he left on me for my entire life.”

Curme was presented with the honor at an ASG award ceremony April 2.
