Jim Paulus, 79, died Wednesday, April 11, after a short battle with cancer. Paulus served as outreach coordinator for Miami University Hamilton, retiring last year.
Paulus also served as the president and chief executive officer of the Butler County United Way and was on the board at the Fitton Center for the Creative Arts.
He was a member of Saint Peter in Chains Catholic Church and served on the parish council for many years. He was an active member and past president of Hamilton Rotary Club and served as a board member for the Hamilton Community Foundation Scholarship Committee.
He also was past chairman of Hamilton Vision Commission, Hamilton Arts Feasibility Study, Hamilton Celebrates Education Committee, Hamilton Schools Business Advisory Council and Elementary School Site Selection and Redistricting Committee.
He is survived by wife Suzanne and their five sons: Joseph (Patti), John (Maria), Thomas, David (Katherine) and William (Susan); nine grandchildren; his brother, Thomas Joseph Paulus (Susan); and his sister, Sister Mary Albertine Paulus, RSM.
Visitation will be at Weigel Funeral Home, 980 N. W. Washington Blvd. 4-8 p.m. Friday, April 13; a Wake Service of Remembrance will be held at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at Saint Peter in Chains Catholic Church, Liberty and Ridgelawn Avenue, with Father Ronald Haft officiating followed by burial at Saint Stephen Cemetery.
