Ann Larson named director of admission

Ann Larson
Ann Larson has been appointed to director of admission. Ann has served as the interim director of admission since June 2010, and has held various roles in the office of admission for more than 27 years.

“I am both excited and honored to have this opportunity to represent Miami as its director of admission. With student success as its core, backed by incredible faculty and collegial, supportive staff, Miami is easy to advocate to prospective students and parents, and the high school counselor community,” said Larson.

“Ann has demonstrated her ability to build critical relationships with key constituents, both internally and externally to the institution, and has proved to be an exceptional spokesperson for Miami,” said Michael Kabbaz, associate vice president of enrollment management.

While the admission profession has changed drastically over the last decade, with the emergence of technology and increased competition for students, Larson has continued to build Miami's strong academic reputation with high schools. “I have great confidence in Ann's ability to lead an office responsible for recruiting the best and brightest students from Ohio, the U.S., and around the globe,” Kabbaz said.

Miami’s office of admission experienced a 96 percent increase in early decision applications and a record-breaking 20,314 applications for fall 2012 undergraduate admission under Larson’s leadership.

“I have one of the best jobs on campus, representing Miami, my alma mater and an exceptional institution that excels in the undergraduate experience for students,” Larson said.
