Miami in Fiske Guide to Colleges 2013; Architecture, business and music among strong programs cited

Miami University again is included in the Fiske Guide to Colleges' list of the "best and most interesting colleges and universities" in the U.S. The Fiske Guide to Colleges 2013 features 300 schools from the more than 2,200 four-year colleges and universities in the U.S. (plus eight from Canada and Great Britain).

Miami is among one dozen Ohio public and private universities in the book and has appeared in the guide for more than 20 years.

Miami’s architecture major is among 20 such programs at public universities cited for “unusual strength.” Among other pre-professional areas highlighted by editors, Miami’s business program is among 36 public universities highlighted for strength and Miami is named among 25 programs (public and private) with strong music programs.

Colleges featured in the Fiske Guide to Colleges 2013 were selected with several broad principles in mind, beginning with academic quality.

Miami is “gaining national recognition as an excellent state university that has the true look and feel of a private, with a picture-perfect campus and high-caliber student body,” says the guide. It also cites Miami’s high study abroad rate, opportunities for undergraduate research and leadership and competitive athletics.
