The Miami University Airport is sponsoring a Fly-In Saturday, Sept. 8. The event is an opportunity for pilots based at other airports to fly to Oxford for the day to participate in local activities and for local residents to visit their community airport to observe flight operations.
On the morning of the Fly-In the Kiwanis Club of Oxford will serve a pancake breakfast 8 a.m.-noon at the airport. The breakfast, which includes all-you-can-eat pancakes with sausages, orange juice, milk and coffee, is $6 for adults and $3 for children under age 10.
The Fly-In will be held in conjunction with the Miami vs. Southern Illinois football game, which kicks off at 1 p.m. at Yager Stadium. A package including shuttle service between the airport and the stadium, a game ticket and a hotdog and drink at the game will be available for $12.
Visitors and community members are encouraged to attend the Fly-In, and parking is available at the airport.
The Miami University Airport is a general aviation airport operated by the university and utilized by pilots. The airport also rents space in its hangar to eight aircraft and is a base for Miami’s “RedHawk 1.”
