Goldwater is recognized as one of the most respected and innovative executives in the sports, entertainment and facility management industry. He has had a distinguished career with executive positions in New York City at Madison Square Garden, in Los Angeles at the STAPLES Center, and in Washington, D.C., as president and executive director of the D.C. Sports and Entertainment Commission.

Currently, Goldwater is the president of The Goldwater Group, a management and consulting company. He is also a part of the faculty at Georgetown University, teaching in the master of professional studies in sports industry management program. Goldwater graduated from Miami in 1974 with a bachelor's of arts degree in American studies. At Miami, Goldwater served for two years as co-sports editor for the Miami Student, and as its editor-in-chief during his senior year. He received Miami’s Gilson Wright Award as outstanding journalist in 1974. He also was a member of the Men’s Glee Club, for which he served as vice president for two years and received the Scott Alexander Award as the Glee Club’s outstanding member.

The Alumni in Residence program is a collaborative effort of career services, divisional and departmental sponsors and the development office.
