Miami University's first e-Text Summit will be held Tuesday, Oct. 30, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on the third floor of Shriver Center. The Miami community is invited to drop by the vendor showcase in the Heritage Room or any of the presentations in the Bystrom-Reid Room.
Miami, like many other institutions, is very interested in lowering costs and is investigating the option of providing more e-textbooks for students.
During fall 2012 and spring 2013, Miami is participating in the EDUCAUSE and Internet2 e-text initiative, with 10 faculty and 772 students participating. This summit offers faculty the opportunity to learn more about options available to them, what issues surrounding e-text need to be considered and what the cutting-edge thinking in higher education looks like right now.
The e-Text Summit is sponsored by IT services and the Center for the Enhancement of Learning, Teaching and University Assessment. Vendors participating inlcude Apple, Internet2, CourseSmart, CourseLoad and McGraw Hill.
