The Ronald and Avis Romm Trumpet and Piano Duo will perform a recital, "A Trumpeter’s Dream," at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, in Souers Recital Hall. Ron is a former and founding member of the Canadian Brass.

The performance will feature works for trumpet and piano, arranged and/or composed by Ron and Avis Romm.

Romm is widely acknowledged as one of the most pre-eminent trumpeters and clinicians of today. Since his retirement from the Canadian Brass in 2000 he and Avis present duo recitals and special pops shows with symphony orchestras as the Ronald and Avis Romm Trumpet and Piano Duo. He is also professor of trumpet at the University of Illinois. He is the recipient of the 2012 International Trumpet Guild Honorary Award - the guild's highest award.

Steinway Piano Artist Avis’ expertise extends to chamber music, opera, orchestra and musical theatre.

The Romms have performed in thousands of concerts worldwide for well over 100 million people.

The duo will also present a masterclass on “Collaborative Performance” 3-5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, in Souers Recital Hall.

“Ron has been to Miami several times with the Canadian Brass over the years,” said James Olcott, professor of trumpet. “This is his first time here as a soloist, and it will be wonderful for the students to hear and work with him and his wife up front and close. And to hear the two as a duo – what a treat!”

Both the masterclass and the recital are free and open to the public. For further information, contact Olcott at
