Miami junior elected as BACCHUS Network student leader

Miami University junior Rachel Schwarz was elected to one of 12 student leadership positions for the national The BACCHUS Network™ at the BACCHUS (Boosting Alcohol Consciousness Concerning the Health of University Students) General Assembly held in Orlando, Fla., this month.

Schwarz was selected by her peers to serve as the Student Advisory Committee member for Area 7, which encompasses Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Michigan. At Miami University, she is involved in the Bacchus-Miami University chapter and serves as a Health Advocates for Wellness Knowledge and Skills (HAWKS) peer health educator.

The BACCHUS Network is a collegiate peer education initiative that supports the achievement of students’ academic and personal success by building skills in student leaders to address campus health and safety issues. The BACCHUS philosophy is that students can play a uniquely effective role in encouraging their peers to develop responsible habits toward high-risk health and safety issues.
