Mosley-Howard to return full time to educational psychology department; interim dean of students named

Susan Mosley-Howard, associate vice president for student affairs and dean of students for almost 10 years, and professor of educational psychology, is leaving the student affairs division at the end of the semester to become chair of the department of educational psychology.

In preparation for full-time return to faculty Mosley-Howard will take a leave of absence for the spring semester.

Mike Curme, associate dean of the Farmer School of Business (FSB) at Miami and associate professor of economics, will serve half of his time as interim associate vice president for student affairs/dean of students beginning Jan. 1, 2013, and half of his time in FSB.

The associate vice president/dean of students’ role at Miami works to provide advocacy and support for students while partnering with academic affairs to enhance the climate for student learning and development, assist students in times of crisis, and serve as a leader on the university’s institutional response team.

As associate vice president/dean of students, Mosley-Howard also supervises five administrative units and serves as a title IX deputy coordinator.

In 2008, Mosley-Howard received Miami’s Distinguished Service Award, given annually to members of the Miami University faculty or staff who have made a significant impact on the life and mission of the university. At Miami for 29 years, she has been a leading force in structuring initiatives to enhance student life at Miami, including leadership for the Bicentennial Student Center, the sophomore-year experience and the development of integrity programs.

Curme has taught at Miami since 1988. He became associate dean for undergraduate programs in FSB in 2007. In 2012 he was named Miami University's Outstanding Professor for 2012 by Associated Student Government and Campus Activities Council. He is the faculty representative on the institutional response team.
