Debra Allison elected to chair EDUCAUSE board of directors

Debra Allison, Miami University vice president for information technology and chief information officer, has been elected as chair for the board of directors of EDUCAUSE, the leading professional association for information technology in higher education.

Allison is currently serving a four-year term on the EDUCAUSE board, to which she was elected by the membership in 2010. She has previously served EDUCAUSE in a variety of roles, including past chair of both the Current Issues Committee and Midwest Regional Conference Program Committee, co-chair of the IT Strategic Planning Constituent and Discussion Group, and on the faculty of the Hawkins Leadership Roundtable.

Within Ohio, Allison was a founding board member of the Ohio Banner Users Group and currently is in her third year as chair of the Ohio Inter-University Council Committee on Information Technology.

EDUCAUSE is a nonprofit association whose mission is to advance higher education by promoting the intelligent use of information technology. Its current membership comprises over 2,300 colleges, universities, and educational organizations, including 300 corporations, with more than 17,000 active members.

EDUCAUSE leads the Next Generation Learning Challenges, a multi-year initiative sponsored by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation that aims to help dramatically improve college readiness and college completion through the use of technology.
