Pianist Bruce Murray, professor and chair of the department of music at Miami, will present the first recital in a new series, "The Piano In-Depth," at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, in Souers Recital Hall. His program will feature works by J.S. Bach.

“The Piano In-Depth” comprises four monthly programs performed by Murray, one each devoted to the classical composers Bach, Mozart, Chopin and Liszt.

Murray joined Miami in June 2012. He previously served as dean and artistic administrator of the Brevard Music Center in Brevard, North Carolina. He holds degrees from Carnegie-Mellon University and Yale University, where he earned both his master's degree and his doctorate.

During his career Murray has presented more than a thousand concerts throughout the world, and he has been noted particularly for his performances of J.S. Bach.

• 8 p.m. Monday, April 15, with works by Liszt.

All performances will be in Souers Recital Hall in the Center for Performing Arts. Admission is free.
