Scientist explores formation of the Earth


The 11th annual Baldwin Frontiers in Geology Lecture will be presented by Richard W. Carlson, staff scientist, department of terrestrial magnetism at the Carnegie Institution of Washington, 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 115 Shideler Hall. The lecture is titled, "History of Earth Formation."

Carlson's lecture will explore the astronomical observations, theory and studies of meteorites and rocks from Earth, Moon and Mars that will also help in providing a timeline of the steps involved in transforming earth from frozen dust in the Milky Way into a planet with surface conditions conducive to life.

Admission is free and open to the public.
