A new Brown Bag Music Recital Series offered by the music department begins at noon, Tuesday, Feb. 5, in room 212 MacMillan Hall. The series will continue noon-12:45 p.m. on Tuesdays throughout the semester. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch and enjoy the performances by student and faculty musicians.

"We hope that the relaxed nature and central location of the MacMillan Hall space will prove inviting to a broad audience," said Chris Tanner, assistant chair of the music department.

"Not everyone can make time to attend an evening concert or recital, but many people can spare forty-five minutes at lunchtime to drop by and hear some great music."

The first recital will feature chamber music performed by student woodwind quintets.

The music department has enlisted a team of student managers, providing them with an opportunity to plan and execute a formal concert series.

"Having students manage this series professionally offers them real-world experience that will prove valuable beyond the university," said Bruce Murray, department chair.
