National Nutrition Month: "Eat Right, Your Way, Every Day"

03/04/2013

Celebrate National Nutrition Month in the American Dietetic Association’s 2013 campaign, “Eat Right, Your Way, Every Day.” Get involved in special events sponsored by Miami University's Employee Benefits & Wellness and housing, dining, recreation and business services.

Meatless Mondays
Start each week by not eating meat on Mondays for the month of March. Personal health can be improved by reducing meat consumption by as little as four days a month, according to studies.

Vegetarian lunches can be enjoyed in several dining halls including Alexander, Erickson, Hamilton, Harris and Martin.

  • March 18: braised kale and julienne peppers with toasted quinoa
  • March 25: oven roasted squash and carrots with multi-grain pilaf

Share a photo of a recipe of a vegetarian meal. Send images to healthandwellbeing@miamioh.edu before 5 p.m. March 29 and be eligible to win a copy of physician and nutrition expert Ann Kultze’s book, Eat Right For Life.

Cooking Class (March 13)
Join Miami chef John Pierce and chef Adam Hamilton from student dining services as they teach a healthy cooking class 1-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 102 Phillips.

The chefs will demonstrate healthy and low-budget meals that are easy to cook on the stovetop. You will also be given the chance to cook yourself with their help and expertise. The space is limited to 30 people. Register through Healthy Miami or by calling 513-529-3492.

Nutrition Programs
Take advantage of one or both of the following interactive programs and be entered for a chance to win a healthy cooking gift basket.
  • Attend a healthy coaching session with registered dietician, Melanie Lipps. To schedule, email wienermr@miamioh.edu or call 513-529-7700.
