Candidates announced for vice president for information technology; first open forum April 22

Wendy Chang, chief information officer for Connecticut State College and Universities, is the first of three candidates for the position of vice president for information technology and chief information officer at Miami, to come to campus for meetings and an open forum.

Members of the university community may meet with Chang from 1-1:45 p.m. in 111 Harrison Hall Monday, April 22.

J. Peter Natale, former CIO and senior vice president of Information Technology and Business Process at Becton Dickinson And Company, and Scott Sanders, vice president - Strategic Enterprise Services Worldwide Tiger Team for Hewlett-Packard, will be scheduled before the end of the semester.

The Connecticut State Colleges and Universities comprise 17 two-year and four-year institutions and more than 95,000 students and 6,700 faculty and staff.
Chang is responsible for the long-range planning, implementation and maintenance of system-wide technology infrastructure including telecommunication, WAN, learning management system, ERP system, contracts, licenses, standards, purchasing, data centers, training, support, security, and policies. She manages 75 full-time staff at the system office and has oversight of an additional 300 technology staff across the 17 campuses and an annual operating budget of $30 million and capital budget of $135 million.

Debra Allison, Miami’s vice president for information technology and chief information officer, announced she will retire when a replacement is found. The areas that report to her are: academic and administrative solutions, operations and infrastructure, and IT planning and strategy.

Miami’s IT department embarked on a new organizational structure last summer.
