Shredfest 2013 begins May 10

Dispose of university and personal confidential documents securely and conveniently during Shredfest 2013.

IT services and the office of the secretary are partnering to sponsor the free document disposal service for Miami faculty, staff and students. A mobile shredder from Cintas Document Management will be available on the Oxford campus May 10 and Hamilton and Middletown campuses May 16. Last year more than 6,000 pounds were shredded during this annual event.


Oxford campus: 11 a.m-2:30 p.m. Friday, May 10, at Cook Field, near the Pulley Tower

Middletown campus: 10 a.m.-noon Thursday, May 16, adjacent to Johnston Hall parking lot

Hamilton campus: 1:30-3:30 p.m. Thursday, May 16, adjacent to Wilks Conference Center parking lot.


University documents - Some points to consider prior to disposing of university documents/records:
• Verify the legal retention period to ensure compliance with university policy.
• University records require a completed and signed Certificate of Records Disposal.
• Miami University’s Records Retention Manual and Certificate of Records Disposal forms are available on the office of the secretary website and will also be available at each ShredFest location.

Personal documents - Examples of personal documents to be shredded:

Monthly financial statements, credit card statements, credit card applications, receipts, tax forms and other sensitive paper documents.
