Miami artists part of Ohio Designer Craftsmen's "The Best of 2013" exhibition


Artwork by Susan Ewing, associate dean of the School of Creative Arts and Miami University Distinguished Professor of Art, and Geoff Riggle, visiting assistant professor of art, has been selected for the Ohio Designer Craftsmen's “Best of 2013” exhibition at the Ohio Craft Museum in Columbus. The exhibition runs through June 23.

More than 300 entries were reviewed by juror Michael Monroe, director emeritus of the Bellevue Arts Museum in Washington. Nearly 90 artists were selected to appear in the 30th annual Ohio Designer Craftsmen (ODC) exhibition.

Vanessa Graham and Benjamin Mark, master’s of fine arts candidates (metals), also have works selected for the “Best of 2013” exhibition.
Miami alumni in the exhibition include Derek Reeverts (Miami MFA ’09), who received the Brian Lonsway Memorial Award for Humor in Craft; Lisa Wilson (Miami MFA ’10), who received the Ohio Designer Craftsmen Scholarship Award; Joshua Foy (Miami MFA '09); and Katie Schutte (Miami MFA ’11).

The exhibition moves to the Southern Ohio Museum July 12 to Sept. 20 and the Springfield Museum of Art Oct. 8 through Dec. 1.

The Ohio Craft Museum is located at 1656 W. 5th Ave. in Columbus. Parking and admission are free.
