Some Miami users to experience conflicting Google Apps accounts

If you have a personal Google account that is using your address as the account name, an account conflict will be created when Miami adds the domain alias to our Google Apps domain.

A conflicting account overview is documented on Google’s support site. This is scheduled to happen 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 28.

The conflict resolution process will start the next time you log in to your personal Google account using your account. Google will guide you through the process of renaming your personal Google account and if you wish, will even help you move data from your personal Google account to your domain account. IT services recommends that you do not move your personal Google data.

When there are conflicting Google accounts, you can choose to:

1. Create a account for your personal Google account

2. Provide a different email address for your personal Google account, such as

3. Temporarily log in using a temporary address

If you do not rename your personal Google account that is conflicting (choice 1 or 2), Google will automatically rename your account for you.

To stay connected to changes from Google, and to get updates on Google Apps at Miami, please visit Miami’s Google-News site, and register for regular email updates through the Google-News Group.

If you have any questions, please contact IT Help at or 513-529-7900.
