Alumni Weekend 2013 promises to evoke feelings of Love and Honor not just for Miami alumni but also for faculty, staff and residents of Oxford. Many of the weekend events (June 21-23) are open to the public with many family-friendly options, including a few that are free of charge.
Alumni College sessions on Friday and Saturday offer a variety of “Classes without Quizzes” that explore subjects so current you could find them in today’s headlines. Whether you’re interested in health, science, the economy or contemporary social issues, Alumni College has the class for you. And with members of Miami’s distinguished faculty leading these lectures, it’s guaranteed you’ll learn something new!
While certain Alumni College sessions are noted as "kid-friendly," there is a whole section of "Kids in College" classes devoted to kids on Saturday afternoon offering story time for those 12 and under, and drawing, origami and dance for children ages 8-13.
Friday night's Uptown Party at the Uptown Park and Saturday's MiamiFest along the campus' Slant Walk are events the whole family can enjoy with food, musical entertainment, and activities for kids.
Adults looking to get a night out without the kids can come to Miami's Shriver Center Multi-Purpose Room for the all-new Casino Night, featuring Black Jack, craps tables and other casino staples. A silent auction also will be held, and tickets for a 50/50 raffle will be sold. All proceeds from the evening will go toward funding the Nellie Craig Room in the Armstrong Student Center. Cost is $50 per person.
