Miami University's Martin Luther King Jr. Day observance will be marked by a variety of events on its Oxford, Middletown and Hamilton campuses.
William Still, president of the William Still Foundation in New York City, will present the keynote address, "Underground Railroad 1872," at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, in Hall Auditorium.
Additional events on the Oxford campus include: Community Observance. Dr. Bruce Beard, First Baptist Church, Charlottesville, Va., will speak at 6:30 p.m. at the Oxford Methodist Church. A candlelight march from Miami's Center for Black Culture and Learning to the church will begin at 5:45 p.m. MLK Day Hike around Acton Lake, Hueston Woods, sponsored by the Hefner Zoology Museum, 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 18.
