Miami announces Performing Arts Series

OXFORD, Ohio -- The St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra and The Manhattan Transfer are two of the ensembles appearing as part of Miami University's 1998-99 Performing Arts Series at Millett Hall.

  • The St. Petersburg Orchestra with violinist Igor Oistrakh will perform at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, in Millett.

  • The Manhattan Transfer, whose show will feature a swing sound, is scheduled at 8 p.m. Sunday, April 18, in Millett.


Other events scheduled for Millett Hall are:
  • The Flying Karamazov Brothers, 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4.

  • "Swan Lake" performed by the Russian National Ballet, 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21.

Season tickets for the Millett Hall series are $36 for Miami students and children 18 and under, $51 for senior citizens and $63 for adults.

Tony Bennett will perform 8 p.m., Saturday, October 31, in Millett Hall during Parents Weekend Celebration. Tickets for his appearance are $20 plus a $2 handling fee.

The Hall Auditorium series will include:

  • The Lakota Sioux Indian Dance Theatre, 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11.

  • Joshua Redman Band Jazz Quintet, 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8.

  • Aviram Reichert, piano, bronze medal winner at the Tenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7.

  • Trio di Milano, 8 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 21.

Season tickets for the Hall series are $36 for Miami students and children 18 and under, $48 for senior citizens and $60 for adults.

The box office in Shriver Center will be open 11 a.m.-

4 p.m. Monday-Friday, beginning Monday, Aug. 24. The box office phone number for ticket information is 513-529-3200. Visa and Master Card are accepted.

Individual tickets for all performances except The Manhattan Transfer concert are $12 for Miami students and children under 18, $15 for senior citizens and $18 for adults. Tickets for The Manhattan Transfer show are $15 for Miami students and children under 18, $21 for senior citizens and $25 for adults.
