No Hate Sign

Two men have been arrested in the Jan. 19 attack on two male Miami students. The men, of Loveland and Oxford, have no connection to Miami.

Among responses to the Jan. 19 attack is the creation and adoption of a symbol to show intolerance for crimes of violence and hate.

Concerned campus and community members are urging people to display the sign (shown above) where they live or work.

The symbol has been printed in the Miami Student and organizers hope it will be printed in other papers for people to cut out, or printed for individual distribution. Rewards totalling $6,000 were raised for information that led to the arrest.

Community meetings have been organized to discuss issues surrounding hate crime and violence. The next meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, in 1 Alumni Hall. All are welcome to attend.
