Job Outlook Great for Grads
More than 94 percent of the employers who attended the annual fall Career Fair indicated the same or greater hiring needs for this year compared to last in a survey taken by the Career Planning and Placement Office (CPPO).
This figure is 6 percent higher than a national survey prediction, Joe Barry (CPPO) said.
A record number of employers attended this year's fair. Nearly 100 organizations responded to the survey.
The survey showed that 54 percent hire more than 70 percent of their entry level hires from on-campus recruiting, and 35 percent said they are going to more campuses this year than last.
Interpersonal/communications skills continue to be the top qualities sought in hires, Barry said. Other qualities mentioned frequently are leadership, work ethic, academic performance and work or intern experience.
"While the CPPO is enthusiastic about this year's market prospects for its graduates, it is important that students remain focused and aggressive in their job search," said Barry. "The best jobs continue to be difficult to obtain."
