Peter Brewer article "Best" in international collection
An article by Peter Brewer, associate professor of accountancy at Miami University, has been chosen as the winning article in an international collection of articles published by the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).
IFAC says the collection, called Articles of Merit: 2003, addresses some of the most significant issues confronting professional accountants in business.
Brewers article, Putting Strategy into the Balanced Scorecard, was first published in Strategic Finance, the magazine of Institute of Management Accountants, of which Brewer is also a member. The article highlights how companies fail to connect their strategy with performance measurement and how the most important step in creating a balanced scorecard is defining the strategy.
The book features 10 articles selected by IFACs Professional Accountants in Business (PAIB) committee as part of its annual Articles of Merit Award Program for Distinguished Contribution to Management Accounting.
The Articles of Merit Award Program is designed to give recognition to published articles that have made or are likely to make a distinct and valuable contribution towards the advancement of management accounting. The articles, nominated by the journal editors of IFACs member organizations, were originally published in 2002.
IFAC membership includes 155 professional accountancy bodies in 113 countries, representing more than 2.4 million accountants in public practice, education, government service, industry and commerce. Its mission is to develop and enhance the profession to enable it to provide services of consistently high quality in the public interest.
