Vealey inducted in national academy
Robin Vealey, professor and former chair of physical education, health and sport studies, was recently inducted in the American Academy of Kinesiology and Physical Education.
Induction in the Academy, which is capped at 150 fellows, is highly selective and based on a distinguished record of scholarship in the human movement sciences and outstanding senior leadership in the field.
Vealeys research focuses on sports confidence and competitive activation, coaching behavior and mental skills training. She has published more than 40 journal articles and book chapters and received the Distinguished Scholar Award in 1995 from the College of Sport Psychologists in the Australian Psychological Society.
She has served as editor of The Sports Psychologist and has served on the editorial boards of six other journals. She is a fellow and certified consultant of the Association for the Advancement of Applied Sport Psychology and also served as its president.
Vealey is listed in the U.S. Olympic Committee Sport Psychology Registry and has worked with the U.S. Nordic ski and field hockey teams.
