Kullman given mathematics education award
David Kullman, professor of mathematics and statistics, received the Christofferson-Fawcett Award from the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics (OCTM). The award is given annually in recognition of outstanding professional service to the mathematics education community.
A 30-year member of OCTM, Kullman has served as the organizations president and as president of the Ohio section of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA). He has also served on the board of governors for the national MAA.
Kullman joined the Miami faculty in 1969. He teaches and advises pre-service and in-service mathematics teachers and has received funding from the National Science Foundation and the Ohio Board of Regents for teacher enhancement projects.
He has written and presented numerous papers on mathematics education and the history of mathematics. A recent project has been a bicentennial survey of mathematical people and events in Ohio since 1803.
