$1.5 million endows professorship in finance

Miami University alumnus and benefactor Jack R. Anderson has presented Miami with a $1.5 million gift to establish the Jack R. Anderson Professorship in Finance.

A national search will be conducted to bring a renowned scholar to the endowed position.

Jack Anderson graduated from Miami in 1947 with a degree in accountancy and earned a master’s degree from Columbia Business School. His business career saw him rise to become CEO of Hospital Affiliates International Inc. and INA Health Group Inc. He served as a director of 13 public companies and chairman of the board of five of them.

He is president of Calver Corporation, a health care consulting and investment firm.

“Jack’s gift will benefit Miami’s students and the business school far into the future. It’s a great step toward enhancing teaching and growing the reputation of the school,” said Roger Jenkins, dean of Miami’s Richard T. Farmer School of Business.

A previous gift from Anderson has allowed Miami to bring national leaders to campus through the Jack R. Anderson Distinguished Lecture series. This year’s speaker was former New York City mayor Rudolph Giuliani. Past speakers have included Gen. Colin Powell and former British Prime Minister John Major.
