Hoeppner to head Hoosier football

Woodburn, Ind., native Terry Hoeppner, who led Miami University to a pair of consecutive Mid-American Conference East Division titles and bowl game appearances for the first time in 30 years, has been named Indiana University's 26th head football coach, IU Athletics Director Rick Greenspan announced Dec. 17.

Hoeppner signed a five-year contract and was introduced at a press conference on Dec. 17 at the Hoosier Room at Memorial Stadium.

"Coach Hoeppner has not only been a great leader and spokesperson for our football team, but an outstanding citizen of the university community. Terry is a man of integrity and high ethical standards and I know he will bring those traits to his new position in Bloomington. Obviously we are sorry to lose him, but we are also proud that he will continue the tradition of the great Miami coaches who have come before him. We wish Terry and his family the very best in his new position," said Miami President Jim Garland.
