Graduate student receives Society for Neuroscience Award
Kaushik Ghosal, a doctoral student in neuroscience in the department of zoology, received a Society for Neuroscience (SfN) Graduate Student Travel Award. He was one of 45 recipients nationwide and the first graduate student from the Ohio Miami Valley chapter of the SfN to receive this award.
The award supported Ghosal's travel to the Society for Neuroscience annual meeting in Washington, D.C., in November, where he presented his research on Effects of social interaction on Fos-like immunoreactivity in cricket brain and SOG.
Ghosal is advised by Kathleen Killian, associate professor of zoology. He was nominated by the Ohio Miami Valley (OMV) chapter of the SfN, which is composed of researchers from Miami, Wright State University and the University of Cincinnati. Phyllis Callahan, professor of zoology at Miami, is president-elect of the OMV chapter.
