Editorial about the debate over colleges and universities continuing to pay presidents even after they've retired says if presidents are going to be kept on after they retire -- a yearlong sabbatical is often part of their contracts -- they should be doing things that can be quantified and that justify their continued salaries. Mentions that James Garland is living in Santa Fe, N.M., while collecting a president's salary for fundraising from there, and that between them, Garland and Miami's new president, David Hodge, are pulling down $625,000-plus.
