Several department of music ensembles will perform this week. Events include:
* The Miami University Trumpet Ensemble will perform at 8 p.m. today (Nov. 17) in Souers Recital Hall, Center for Performing Arts. James Olcott directs the ensemble. Admission is free and open to the public.
* Miami's Steel Band will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, in Hall Auditorium. The concert will feature guest pan artist Tracy Thornton, known for blending rock influences with heavy metal and punk to the steel band sound. Tickets are $7 for the general public and $5 for students and senior citizens. The Miami band is directed by Chris Tanner.
* The Miami Marching Band's annual concert is 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, in Millett Hall. David Shaffer, director, will lead the band in highlights from the marching season. The concert is free and open to the public.
* A Miami Jazz Ensemble concert is 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, in Hall Auditorium. The ensemble will be led by new director Hal Melia and feature Wayne Bergeron as guest artist. Bergeron is a trumpeter based in Los Angeles who has performed all over the world. Admission is free.
