Student health services receives re-accreditation

Miami University's student health services, which operates the student health center, received re-accreditation from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).

The AAAHC Certificate of Accreditation demonstrates an organization's commitment to provide safe, high quality services to patients. The re-accreditation is for three years, the maximum period of time an agency can be accredited. The accreditation process involves self-assessment by the organization and a thorough on-site review by the AAAHC. Core standards reviewed include rights of patients, governance, administration, quality of care, quality management and improvement, clinical records and health information, and facilities and environment.

The organization recognized Miami's student health services for its "experienced and effective management team, its dedication to providing quality care to students, and having a clear sense of belonging in the university community."

"The accreditation by AAAHC demonstrates the value the student health services staff places on quality patient care," said Gail Walenga, assistant vice president of student health and wellness. "The survey process always gives us opportunities to improve our work and the three year accreditation is recognition of our on-going commitment to our best work."
