Miami Professor Emeritus Edgar Ben Yager dies Nov. 13


Edgar Ben Yager, 85, of Georgetown, Texas, and previously of Oxford, died Nov. 13. He was professor emeritus of accountancy and taught at Miami University 1955-1989.

Yager was department chairman 1966-1970. He was named the first C. Rollin Niswonger Professor of Accountancy in 1978. He co-authored three editions of CPA Examination: A Comprehensive Review. A certified public accountant in Ohio and Texas, Yager was a member of the American Institute of CPAS, Ohio Society of CPAS, American Accounting Association, Financial Executives Institute and Alpha Kappa Psi business society. In Oxford, he was a member of the Oxford Methodist Church and Oxford Men's Club, and conducted a small accounting practice.

Yager was preceded in death by his wife Jeanne and an older brother. He is survived by three daughters: Ann Elizabeth, Miami '81 (Richard Glass) of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; Lois Marie Yager of Houston, Texas; and Laura Jeanne (David Zimmerman) of Georgetown; four grandchildren and other relatives.
