Miami student wins Freeman-ASIA award

Stephanie LaCava, a senior at Miami University, has been awarded a $5,000 Freeman-ASIA scholarship to study in Japan spring semester. The Freeman-ASIA (Freeman Awards for Study in Asia) scholarship is designed to support American undergraduates with demonstrated financial need who plan to study in East or Southeast Asia.

LaCava is an international studies and East Asian languages and cultures double major from Powell.

The program is supported by the Freeman Foundation and administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE) in order to give more American undergraduate students the means to study in East and Southeast Asia. Since the launch of the program in 2001, Freeman-ASIA has supported more than 4,000 students.
