Catherine Bishop-Clark receives Knox Teaching Award

Miami University President David Hodge and Catherine Bishop-Clark.
Catherine Bishop-Clark, associate dean and professor of computer information and technology at Miami University Middletown, was awarded the E. Philips Knox Teaching Award at Miami University's fall commencement Dec. 19.

The $3,000 award was established by E. Philips Knox (Miami '68) to recognize creative, innovative and engaging teaching methods at the undergraduate level. Miami's committee on the enhancement of learning and teaching selected Bishop-Clark for the honor.

This is the 14th year the award has been presented.

Bishop-Clark's scholarship is connected to her teaching and the students served at the regional campuses. She helped develop new courses in computing and programming and has contributed to the development of a recently established department of computer and information technology. Her research focuses on online learning and computer-mediated communications; cognition, personality and computer programming; and attitudes about the mixed-age college classroom.

Bishop-Clark joined Miami's faculty in 1989.
