Turkey, the E.U. and the U.S. topic of Grayson Kirk Lecture
Birol Yesilada, Sabri Sayari and Yavuz Aktas will present the Grayson Kirk Distinguished Lecture "Turkey, the European Union and the U. S." at 5 p.m. today in Room 100 of the art building. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Birol Yesilada is professor of political science, Turkish political economy and trade chair, at Portland State University. His research includes political and economic development in Turkey, emerging markets and financial integration and international conflict resolution.
Sabri Sayari is executive director, Institute of Turkish Studies, School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. His research includes Turkish political development, democratization and international political economy.
Yavuz Aktas is Consul General for the Republic of Turkey at the Chicago Consulate.
This event is sponsored jointly by the international studies program and MIDDFEST. Related activities take place Sept. 29-Oct. 1 at MIDDFEST in Middletown.
