Mosaic Youth Theatre to bring spirited performance

Mosaic Youth Theatre and Youth Singers of Detroit will present two high-energy performances Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 14 and 15, as part of Miami’s Performing Arts Family Series.

Mosaic is an acclaimed multicultural theatre troupe that develops young artists through training and performing. The 11-month program is divided into specific areas including an acting company, technical crew and music group, with students working 10 hours each week. Mosaic performed here last year during fall semester and four Mosaic alumni are currently first-year students at Miami.

At 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, Mosaic will present "Crossing 8 Mile" in Hall Auditorium. An urban adaptation of Shakespeare’s "The Comedy of Errors," the production is recommended for third-graders and older.

The Mosaic Youth Singers perform at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, in the Presser Hall auditorium. The singers will perform an interactive program especially designed for preschoolers and older.

Mosaic’s appearance at Miami is in collaboration with the School of Fine Arts, College of Arts and Science, office of admission and office of the provost.

Tickets are $6 for adults for each production, $4 for senior citizens and $3 for Miami students and youth. For more information, call the Shriver Center box office, 9-3200.
