Native American homecoming

Leaders of three prominent nations that originally inhabited the Miami Valley—the Miami, the Delaware and the Shawnee—will celebrate a homecoming at Miami Friday, Oct. 27. Accompanying Chief Floyd Leonard of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma will be Chief Dee Ketchum of the Delaware Tribe of Indians and James Squirrel, chairman of the Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma.

The chiefs will lead a discussion from 2-3:30 p.m. in Leonard Theatre in Peabody Hall. Other guests will speak from 3:30-5 p.m. Anticipated topics include tribal customs, current quests to recapture their culture, governance and business operations and a stomp dance demonstration.

The Miami Tribe is co-hosting the homecoming with student affairs.
